Weekly Update
1. Friday Night! (Friday January 22nd)
We will be meeting at 6:30 to hear John Thompson (IVCF Windsor Alumni). John Thompson and his wife Soyon are our guest speakers for the evening. They will be sharing about how God called them into the missions’ field in the Himalayas working with an organization called MountainChild. Their message will challenge you to see God’s mission everywhere around you. Come out for a great time of food, fellowship and fun! Our social for the night will be our “Fire and Ice Party!” We have some really great events for this night planned! You may want to bring some warm clothing and boots (in case it gets cold!), but we will be having events indoors as well. Also, in order for this fun event to happen, we need drivers! So please let us know if you can drive! *Our location for large group is TBA, but I will be sending it out as soon as it’s confirmed!
2. Small groups have started/continue to start this week! Each of the groups will meet at the info desk in the CAW student center first and then head over to their area. If you haven’t joined a small group before then now’s the time to do so! They are a great way to study God’s word with others in our community, and to apply what we’ve learned to our lives. This semester we will continue our manuscript study of Luke. If you have been in one before, then you know how awesome they are! Here are the groups we are offering for this semester. If you have a major time conflict with all of them, please let us know and we will do our best to try and change some things around. If you have any questions be sure to email us back!

3. IT’S TIME TO “FLIP IT”
If you were out on Friday night, you heard Susan (our staff worker) challenge us to group to take advantage an opportunity for members of IVCF Windsor to individually and collectively “FLIP IT”, i.e. flip our thinking and actions about reaching our campus for Jesus. She reminded us that we need to be excited for people who will say YES to our invitation to meeting Jesus and not be fearful and/or silent when facing the NOs.
Together we are planning an event in which we can share the Good News at the University of Windsor. For some of you, we know it sounds like a scary thing to do, but it is something that we as Christians are called to do and we are promised the power, guidance, peace, protection, and even the creativity and boldness of the Holy Spirit in order to FLIP IT!
If you are ready to do something new, to see your faith grow, to build up our fellowship into a truly witnessing community and more importantly to share the LIFE that is found in Jesus with others on campus…this is for you!!!

4. IVCF WINDSOR PRAYER & SUPPORT MEETING:
Date: Thursday, January 21
Time: 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Location: Iona College (208 Sunset Ave.) in Hoffman Auditorium (at the back of the building)
What: A chance to join us with local supporters to hear about the last news of and pray for the needs of our fellowship. Light refreshments will be served. (Note: prayer meeting is usually done by approx. 8:15 pm, so if you can just stay for that time, you are more than welcome!)

ENTERING THE REST OF GOD’S STORY
Our speaker, Shelley Campagnola, will be teaching us about how these spiritual disciplines help us draw close to God and learn to rely on Him in a new way. You will also get an opportunity to try them out for yourselves! Of course, that evening will also end with an amazing night of music and dancing with Christian Artist ”The Runway” (Jon Corbin). All this, plus you get a chance to meet and worship with fellow students from 4 other IVCF chapters from SW Ontario, too.

What you will need…
Below is a list of things you will need, as well as a list of things we ask you not to bring. We will spend time considering what it means to Sabbath and we invite you to engage in this experience fully.
Things to bring:
-Clothing
-Toiletries (toothbrush, comb, etc.)
-Shower Supplies (shampoo, towel)
-Pillow
-Sleeping Bag
-Outdoor shoes & Attire
-Flashlight
-Slippers or indoor shoes
-Health card
Things we invite you to bring:
-Journal
-Bible
-A personal music player for quiet reflection time
-A book that you are reading for enjoyment
-Outdoor activities (football, sleds, etc.)
-Indoor activities (board games, cards)
-A cool outfit for Saturday night Dance Party
Please do not bring:
Since this is a weekend of Sabbath, we ask you to leave the following at home:
-a computer
-homework
-other projects
-required reading from classes
Payment
The cost is $100 for the conference (This is the University of Windsor student price due to fund-raisers, original price = $120. Your transportation cost will also be covered in the $100 fee) .
Please be sure to bring cash or cheque to the retreat for registration on the first night.
